Shubham Gill in one of his scintillating innings smashed Mumbai Indians to all corners of the field. Shubman Gill continued his brilliant IPL 2023 campaign by capturing the Orange Cap from RCB skipper Faf du Plessis on Friday in the Qualifier Two match between GT and MI.Gill has been enjoying a prolific year in international cricket, having scored centuries in all formats of the game and also a double hundred in ODIs against New Zealand.
The 23-year-old carried this form into IPL 2023, where he has been GT’s highest run-scorer while enjoying his most prolific campaign in the competition.In the 15 matches he played, heading into Qualifier Two, Gill had scored 722 runs at an average of 55.54 and a strike-rate of 149.17.
Gill had scored two back-to-back hundreds in the last two league games for GT against SRH and RCB respectively.Gill has scored two hundreds and four fifties this season and was hot on the heels of Du Plessis, who also had a fantastic campaign in the IPL this year.
The RCB skipper scored 730 runs in IPL 2023 in 14 matches. Gill needed nine runs to surpass Du Plessis on the day and was able to easily go past that.
Gill was finally dismissed for 129 runs off just 60 balls and his knock consisted of seven boundaries and 10 sixes.
